Winter Fishing Update

As hurricane season comes to an end and winter starts here in the Keys we are excited to welcome cooler temps, loads of bait and plenty of fishing opportunities. I have been seeing some nice Mangrove Snapper coming aboard and we have caught some big Goliath Grouper between the Snapper bites. We have been catching the 3-5lb Mangrove Snapper on live pilchards in the backcountry channels and the Spanish Mackerel have started to show as well. The trout bite is slowly starting to pick up and we are targeting these fish on artificial lures.

I enjoy the winter fishing due to the opportunity to catch a ton of different species that provide fantastic table fare or catch and release. This time of the year its nothing to catch Trout, Mangrove Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Yellow Jacks, Grouper, Spanish Mackerel, Cero Mackerel, Lane Snapper all in a couple spots at most. This is a great time to get the kids out and get them fishing! When we are casting artificials its about covering water and this keeps the kiddos occupied because of the action that the species mentioned above provide.

I encourage you to book a winter fishing charter with us, see the beautiful backcountry of the Florida Keys while having a blast catching a bunch of fish!!!!
